Posted October 16, 2018 05:25:20In Canada, the grocery store chain Publices has announced it will be shutting down all of its Canadian stores.
“Publix is the last grocery store in Canada to be closed,” said Chris Sibley, CEO of Publishes parent company, Publites.
“We have an incredible community of Canadians, and our commitment to Canadians is just as strong as it is in the United States.”
With the Canadian economy in an increasingly precarious state, our goal has always been to grow our Canadian operations.
With the advent of a national recovery in the retail sector, we decided to expand our Canadian stores and focus our attention on growing the Canadian retail market, and we’ve decided to do that with the closure of all of our Canadian locations.
“Publishes Canadian operations will be replaced by a new franchise in Canada, which will be overseen by an independent director.
Publites said it plans to close its Canadian operations by the end of 2019, which is on schedule.
In addition, the chain said it will close its grocery stores across the country, which are not part of the new franchise.”
We are grateful for all the hard work and commitment from our staff and customers over the past three years.””
Publiques has always made a point of treating customers and staff with respect, and the closure is the first step in that effort.
We are grateful for all the hard work and commitment from our staff and customers over the past three years.”
