The Tamil Nadu government on Friday launched a campaign to bring Kannadas music to the masses.
Kannada, also known as Kannadi language, was brought to Tamil Nadu in the 19th century by the British.
The government said it will launch a campaign in five days to spread the Kannadis music.
“Kannad is one of the most popular Tamil language spoken by the people of the state,” state home minister Ramesh Agrawal said.
“It is a language of culture, history and language.”
The state government is organising music festivals, concerts and dance events to spread Kannades music.
